Yoko Ono's seminal artist's book reflects her pioneering philosophy and serves as a lifelong guide.
This updated edition of the acclaimed work by avant-garde artist and cultural icon Yoko Ono features previously unpublished texts and invitation pieces from 2016 to 2018, alongside drawings from the 1994 Franklin Drawings series.
Yoko Ono believes that words, artworks, and books possess the enduring ability to positively transform our world. Through her ongoing sharing of a philosophy rooted in transformative experiences, unwavering optimism, and compassion, she offers profound insights into life. Building on previous volumes that have served as enduring guides, Everything in the Universe Is Unfinished presents her latest reflections through a nuanced blend of poems, aphorisms, short stories, and drawings.
Born in Tokyo in 1933, Yoko Ono relocated to New York in the mid-1950s, becoming a vital bridge between the American and Japanese avant-garde movements. She actively participated in Fluxus and pioneered new forms in performance and art, including the seminal Cut Piece and her conceptual instruction book, Grapefruit (both 1964). Ono’s artworks and films are exhibited worldwide and held in prominent museum and private collections. In 2009, she received the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Biennale. Her innovative contributions have profoundly shaped conceptual art, performance art, and experimental film and music on a global scale.
Now 90 years old, Yoko Ono has left her Upper West Side NYC apartment and now lives on a farm in the Catskills area of New York State.
